Vault of Glass Raid Guide – Destiny 2

Our Destiny 2 Vault of Glass Raid Guide details everything that you need to know about the new Vault of Glass raid in Destiny 2 and how to complete it.

Charging the Spire and Gaining Access to the Vault

The very first step in the Vault of Glass Raid is the formation of the Spire. This is required for entering the Vault of Glass. You can begin by having three members of the fireteam on each of the plates that appear on the map. These are on different parts of the map so make sure that the players keep stepping on the plates as they appear. This will help you charge up the Spire which then gives you access to the Vault.

However, during this phase, you should know that Vex enemies will continue to spawn and each team will need to kill the enemies while making sure that they are on top of the plates. Keep killing enemies on top of these plates and you will eventually charge the Spire enough to open the Vault of Glass and get inside to officially start your raid with your fireteam. The Spire is not charged by killing enemies rather stepping on them is required for charging up the Spire so keep this in mind.

Trial of Kabr and Random Encounters

As you enter the Vault and progress ahead, you will come across your first set of enemies that include Conflux and Oracle. The Trial of Kabr is a secret chest that you can obtain after completing a short sequence. Your encounters with the enemies will start inside the Templar’s Well. Your first set of enemies are Conflux and then Oracle will appear.

During the Conflux section, your goal is to defend the Vex Pylons and kill all the enemies that spawn in the game. For the second bit of the encounter, Oracle will appear, and you will have to kill all of them before you can fight with the first boss of the raid. Oracle spawn in three locations so you have to kill all of them to trigger the next phase of the raid.

Templar Boss Battle

After defeating the Conflux and Oracle enemies, you will be required to pick up an artifact inside the Templar’s Well which triggers the boss battle with the Templar. The relic is used to break the shield of the Templar to make it vulnerable to normal attacks. For the first phase of the battle, more Oracle will spawn in the arena so your goal should be these enemies. Kill them all and the boss will enter the next phase during which it performs the Ritual of Negation.

During this phase, the person holding the relic must destroy the shield of the boss. After picking up the relic, the relic holder gets new attacks and a super bar. The super bar can be filled with melee attacks using the relic. Once the super bar is full, the holder can unleash the super attack on the Templar that will destroy the shield and open up the boss to normal attacks. Once the shield is gone, you and your team can defeat the boss with their normal weapons without any trouble.

Gorgon’s Labyrinth

Defeat Templar and you will finally move to the next section of the raid. Up ahead, you will find yourself in a chasm leading into the Gorgon’s Labyrinth. This maze is probably the hardest part of this entire raid unless someone in your fireteam has memorized the path to the exit of the maze. In the maze, you will also encounter Gorgons, that can sense players if they make a noise even by sprinting. You can throw smoke to blind the Gorgons if you encounter them. Clear the maze and there is a small platforming section leading into the next boss fight.

Gatekeeper Boss Battle

After getting through the platforming section, you will arrive at the Gatekeeper which is your next boss of the raid. The Gatekeeper is accompanied by further smaller enemies that will keep spawning in the arena. The boss battle is not too difficult if all players do their fair bit in the fight by damaging the boss and also taking care of the minions spawning around the arena. Once the Gatekeeper is down, it will give you a relic which one player can pick up to use in the battle ahead.

At this point, you will have to form two parties where one party keeps the enemies at bay while the other part heads into the portal to pick up the Gatekeeper. For the next section, your team will need to kill six Praetorians until the Conflux emerges. At this point, waves of Vex enemies will also start spawning you must kill all Vex before they can get to the Conflux. Once the area is clear of all enemies, you will get a rain/pinnacle drop. This leads to the final boss battle of the raid.

Atheon Boss Battle

The final boss of the Vault of Glass raid is Atheon and you will fight him in the same area as that of the Gatekeeper. At the start of the fight, Atheon will start shooting his Torch Hammer at players and if someone is hit twice with the attack, they will be out of action. The best strategy to avoid the hits is by sticking to the sides of the arena and taking care of the harpies appearing to support the boss during the early phase.

Eventually, Atheon will teleport three random players to either Venus or Mars. Once you figure out where the players have been teleported, the remaining party can join them once again by stepping on the plate with the remaining players shooting at the harpies and supplicants to keep them at bay. One player is enough on the plate’s pillar. When Oracles start spawning, kill them as well and upon killing 9 Oracles, you will be able to finally damage the boss.

You will need to repeat the same process a few times before the boss is dead. This battle requires plenty of patience as it takes a little bit of time to complete and repeating all of the processes over a couple of times may make it a little tedious as well. Make sure that your team tries to deal as much damage to the boss during the DPS phase as killing the boss will mark the end of the raid.
