Destiny 2 Root of Nightmares Cataclysm Encounter Guide

This Cataclysm encounter is best completed when you have one to two players focusing on the light orbs, while the rest of the team focuses on the enemies and thw two Psions. While the other team members are clearing out the enemies, two players in the team need to first shoot at the ball of light to get the Field of Light buff. This is because the encounter requires the players to build a network of nodes with the orbs.

Begin by shooting the Light Orb and this will give you the Field of Light Buff for 15 seconds. The node will then shoot out a beam of light showing you the next node’s location. Shoot at the orb and it will consume the buff and show you the next node. You need to repeat this process until the whole network is completed, all while finishing it in 30 seconds. If you don’t complete the network in time, the Sweeping Terror debuff will wipe the team once the timer has passed 33 seconds.

But you can extend this time with a method in the raid that requires you to first kill two Psions that will appear, extending the time as you fight off the Tormenter that follows.

All other members in the team should focus on enemies and most importantly the two Psions that will show up, protected by a shield. With the Psions defeated, your next target is the Tormenter, who also extends the time by 35 seconds before the Sweeping Terror kills all players. This process of beating the Psions to bring out the Tormenter is solely to give you more time to complete the network and to proceed in the raid.
