When you first start Baldur’s Gate 3, you will be required to create your very first character for the game. Chances are that if you are not that good at making characters, you might end up with something that might not go along with your playstyle, and with plenty of options available in Baldur’s Gate 3 when it comes to classes, you might get lost. However, you do not have to suffer through the entire game with your starting bad decisions because Baldur’s Gate 3 allows you to change your class and respec when you want. In this Baldur’s Gate 3 guide, we will tell you how you can change your classes and respec your character after you have started the game.

How to Change Classes and Respec in Baldur’s Gate 3

This naturally comes with a little bit of story progression, but you can change your class and respec your character after meeting with Withers. Continue with Act 1 and progress in the main story of the game until you have arrived at the beach. From there, make your way to the Overgrown Ruins waypoint which is located right next to the large double doors blocking your path.

To open these double doors, you can either pick the lock or head to the top of the cliffs where there is an alternative entrance to this area. Inside you will find some traps so make sure to be on your guard. Continue forward and defeat the enemies that come your way. Keep going until you find the ornate sarcophagus. Withers is inside this sarcophagus so to make him appear; you will need to open it. Answer his question to send him to your camp nearby and make your way to the camp as well.

Once back at the camp, speak with Withers and if you want to change your class or respect, you can now do so whenever you want however you will need to dish out 1000 gold for every switch that you make. It is important to note here that you can not only change class and respec your base character but any character in your party as well.

Naturally, you will need the money but as long as you have the money, you can change class or respec anyone you want. If two characters in your party are of the same class, you can visit Withers and change the class of any one of them to make your party more capable. You can also visit here to add levels to another class and obtain its spells or actions unique to that particular rank.
