Developer Bad Bones and publisher Retrovibe have announced that their post-apocalyptic high-speed combat racer roguelite is taking part in the upcoming Tiny Teams 2023 festival. The Tiny Teams 2023 festival is taking place on PC via Steam from August 3 to 10, 2023, and VergeWorld will be part of the festival alongside many other indie titles. During this phase, different top content creators and ambassadors will also host exclusive gameplay showcases over at Twitch and YouTube.
VergeWorld is a unique racing game where you will embark on a journey through the unforgiving planet Gh2040-B while piloting a stolen experimental airship named Icarus. You will join Nix, a rebellious member of the ruling class, and venture to the edges of civilization to find and join the Revolt. Through these races, you will engage in fierce dogfights, gather vital resources, and conquer daring challenges in procedurally generated canyons while hidden behind a mysterious mask.
Each race in VergeWorld is unique and you will have to master the mechanics rather than tracks. You will shoot enemies, gather resources, and complete challenges while trying to survive the onslaught of enemies and also avoiding the tricky paths. Flying low will boost your engine and you can refuel at different Frontier outposts, but you have to ensure that you reach these posts otherwise, your race will be over. All of this is played while listening to 16-bit tunes, synthwave soundtrack, and looking at retro PSX-era 3D visuals.
VergeWorld was originally announced for a Fall 2022 release however the game was later pushed into 2023 and will now be released sometime in Q3 2023.
