EA Announces GRID Legends, The First GRID Title After its Codemasters Acquisition

EA has announced the next entry in the GRID franchise called GRID Legends and this will be the first GRID title since its acquisition of Codemasters. GRID Legends is announced as a high-stakes driving experience that combines thrilling motorsport action, incredible race variety, and an immersive story that puts the player at the heart of the action. Similar to previous titles in the franchise, the game will feature both traditional racetracks and city circuits.

GRID Legends will continue to follow along the lines of the franchise even under a new management label and EA is promising that the game will come loaded with tons of new features this time around. One of the major highlights of the new title is the Race Creator that will enable players to select mixed-class vehicles and battle across all circuits including new city locations London and Moscow.

GRID World Series is making a comeback this time around as well however this time around, players will be the front and center in a fly-on-the-wall documentary that will capture every moment on and off the track. Drivers will encounter fierce personalities, internal team politics and the infamous Ravenwest Motorsport which is aiming to take a sixth World Championship. The game has been developed with innovating virtual production.

The game will bring players closer to the action and the underdog tale features an eclectic cast including the award-winning British actor Ncuti Gatwa. Chris Smith, GRID Game Director at Codemasters said:

GRID Legends combines everything our players love and adds more exhilarating race features, including our new epic story mode. We’re giving players more variety and choice, whether that’s creating their ultimate races using our race creator or bringing back the community-requested Drift mode. This is just the start of the journey, and we can’t wait to reveal more in the coming months.

The game will also feature unique driver personality AI which will create unpredictable racing as cars try to reach the podium by any means necessary. You will have over 130 routes to compete on ranging from real-life tracks including Brands Hatch and Indianapolis to iconic GRID city circuits like San Francisco, Paris, and more. You will have over 100 vehicles to drive, upgrade, and customize ranging from classic touring cars to big rigs, single-seaters to stadium trucks, and much more.

GRID Legends is slated for release on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC along with PS4 and Xbox One as well in 2022. A confirmed release date will be announced at a later stage along with additional details about the title.
