Ubisoft Reveals Rainbow Six Siege Year 8 Season 1 Content

Rainbow Six Siege Year 8 Season 1

Ubisoft has officially lifted the curtain off the Year 8 Season 1 content that will be arriving in Rainbow Six Siege called Operation Commanding Force. Operation Commanding Force will introduce a new Operator called Brava who hails from Brazil along with important gameplay updates including an immersive reload update, the Mousetrap feature to address players using a mouse and keyboard on consoles along with further anti-toxicity measures as well.

Brava will be the latest Operator to arrive in Rainbow Six Siege who is an Attacker and comes equipped with the Kludge Drone gadget. The Kludge Drone can disrupt hostile surveillance and also provides counter tactics such as repurposing the technology for her own squad instead. Brava can gain an advantage in any environment by accessing electronic resources available to her. She is a three-speed and one-health Operator however her loadout features a PARA-308 or a CAMRS as a primary weapon and a USP40 or a Super Shorty as a secondary weapon.

Apart from Brava, fans will also get a lot of important gameplay updates such as the Mousetrap which will further player protection improvements in the game. Any player who uses a mouse and keyboard on consoles will get hit by a penalty that adds lag to their inputs. The goal of this penalty is to encourage fair gameplay by removing the unfair advantage that mouse and keyboard players have on consoles. While active, the longer the players use the mouse and keyboard on consoles, the greater the lag becomes over several matches.

The penalty will stick even if the players move back to a controller, and it only goes away gradually with each match completed with a controller. The penalty will make it extremely hard to aim and shoot at your enemies while it is active. Apart from Mousetrap, additional anti-toxicity measures are also coming to Rainbow Six Siege such as a new Reputation Penalty System for abusive voice chat. While this is active, it will mute repeat offenders automatically to prevent hateful and disruptive content in voice chat.

The muted players can still use voice chat but only those players will hear them who unmute them. Apart from this, Year 8 Season 1 is all about bringing Rainbow Six Siege back to its origins by solidifying its position as a high-intensity tactical shooter where only purposeful action, precision, and creative tactics will help you become the winner. Commanding Force will bring a balancing update to Zero, improvements to the Play Section UI, balancing change on weapon attachments, and a new immersive reloading system: interrupting the player will leave the player without a magazine but closed bolt weapons will have a single-round for the player to use at any point during the reload.

Ubisoft is also aiming to make Rainbow Six Siege easier for new players by introducing new onboarding features to the game which will assist players in learning Rainbow Six Siege. These include the Beginner Challenges and Specialty Challenges. Beginner Challenges identify an Operator’s playstyle in-game where all Operators have one to two specialties which can be checked during the Planning Phase, in the Operators section, and in Operators Guides. Specialty Challenges will help to start players learn the different Operator Specialties and what they contribute to a match.

By completing these challenges, new players will not only earn a variety of rewards but also understand all of the Operators easily in a controlled environment. If the player manages to complete all challenges for a single specialty, they will also unlock an Operator for permanent use in the game.

Players looking to purchase the Year 8 Pass can grab it for $30 from February 20 until March 20 to unlock the four seasonal Battle Passes, 14-day early access to new Operators when they launch, exclusive Exotic weapon skins, a 10% VIP discount on the shop, and more. The Premium Year Pass, priced at $60, includes everything detailed above along with 20 additional Battle Tokens that will help them unlock rewards faster.

Season 1’s Battle Pass introduces the Bravo Pack Ticket, a rare item that lets you pick an exclusive reward from the latest Bravo Collection. This ticket will be awarded to Premium players who reach level 100 in this season’s Battle Pass as a reward for their dedication.
